Waive

If you do not want the Student Health Insurance Plan for the 2026-2027 plan year, you must decline or opt-out of coverage by submitting a waiver. You may only opt-out of coverage during the following Waiver Periods, and your plan must meet the waiver requirements per your student classification.

Verified active coverage plan required to waive for:
• DNP
• Online students (AK, CO, and Pharm)
• Med-PAZ Year 1 and 2
• Med Year 1 and 2

To waive from the student health plan, your existing plan must meet the following requirements:
• Any plan with active coverage and maintained for the entire school year, including summers.

ACA-compliant plan, or Iowa/Nebraska Medicaid required to waive for:
• Full Time Undergraduate
• Full Time Graduate
• Med Year 3 and 4
• International

To waive from the student health plan, your existing plan must meet the following requirements:

• ACA-compliant
• National Coverage for inpatient and outpatient medical care
• National coverage for inpatient and outpatient mental health care
• Unlimited lifetime maximum benefits
• Active coverage for the entire academic year
• Iowa/Nebraska Medicaid
• Medicaid outside of IA/NE will not be accepted Waiver Period

Verified active coverage, or Arizona Medicaid required to waive for:
• Online Students (Phoenix, AZ)

To waive from the student health plan, your existing plan must meet the following requirements:
• Any plan with active coverage and maintained for the entire school year, including summers
• Arizona Medicaid
• Medicaid outside of AZ will not be accepted

ACA-compliant plan, or Iowa/Nebraska Medicaid required to waive for:
• DNP - Graduate Nursing
• Secondary Education
• Accelerated Law

To waive from the student health plan, your existing plan must meet the following requirements:

• ACA-compliant
• National Coverage for inpatient and outpatient medical care
• National coverage for inpatient and outpatient mental health care
• Unlimited lifetime maximum benefits
• Active coverage for the entire academic year
• Iowa/Nebraska Medicaid
• Medicaid outside of IA/NE will not be accepted
